    Garissa University Institute of Peace and Security Studies (GaU IPSS) was established in January 2020 at University’s main campus with support from Frontier Counties Development Council (FCDC) to professionalize and promote peace, security and conflict resolution mechanisms within the region and beyond.

    Purpose

    Enhance professionalism and capacities of students, communities and stakeholders on peace, security and conflict management in the drylands of Kenya, the region and beyond for mutual co-existence and sustainable development.

    • To be a globally recognized centre of excellence that provides quality training, research, innovation, consultancy and community outreach to addresses societal needs on peace, security and conflict management for sustainable growth and development in the drylands of the region and beyond.

    To lead, professionalize and nurture talents on peace, security and conflict management through quality training, research, innovation, consultancy and community outreach to meet the sustainable growth and development needs of the society

  • Promote adaptation and mitigation to climate change issues that build peace and resolves conflicts.
